Background

The Kenya Consumers Protection Advisory Committee (KECOPAC) was established under Section 89 of the Consumer Protection Act No. 46 of 2012 (CPA) which also defines its membership. On March 2013, the Consumer Protection Act No. 46 of 2012 was enacted into Law by Parliament to satisfy the Constitutional expectation. The Act puts into effect the rights guaranteed under the Cconstitution and establishes a lead agency to ensure that the rights are realized. 

Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee (KECOPAC) is a statutory organ established under Ssection 89, of the Consumer Protection Act No. 46 of 2012 to oversee the protection of the consumer and prevent unfair trade practices in consumer transactions at all levels.  It has been in existence since November 2013.
