The statutory responsibility of KECOPAC under Section 90 of the Consumer Protection Act can be summed up as follows: -
- Advise the cabinet Secretary on all aspects relating to consumer protection;
- To take reasonable and practical measures to promote the purpose of the Act, protect and advance the interest of consumers across all sections of the economy;
- Policy development, monitoring evaluation review and Implementation;
- Liaison and coordination with other enforcement agencies and consumer organizations;
- Consumer empowerment which incorporates the function of advocacy, research, education and awareness, enforcement and information
- Report on state of Consumer Protection;
- In consultation with the Chief Justice, County Government and other relevant institutions facilitate simple, quick and economic redress mechanisms.
- Investigate complaints and refer them to competent authorities ;
