Functions

The statutory responsibility of   KECOPAC under Section 90 of the Consumer Protection Act can be summed up as follows: -

  1. Advise the cabinet Secretary on all aspects relating to consumer protection;
  2. To take reasonable and practical measures to promote the purpose of the Act, protect and advance the interest of consumers across all sections of the economy;
  3. Policy development, monitoring evaluation review and Implementation; 
  4. Liaison and coordination with other enforcement agencies and consumer organizations;
  5. Consumer empowerment which incorporates the function of advocacy, research, education and awareness, enforcement and information
  6. Report on state of Consumer Protection;
  7. In consultation with the Chief Justice, County Government and other relevant institutions facilitate simple, quick and economic redress mechanisms.
  8. Investigate complaints and refer them to competent authorities ;
